Santa Maria Maggiore is one of the 24 municipalities of Piedmont
to be awarded “Bandiera Arancione” in the spring of 2015.
“Bandiera Arancione” (Orange Flag) is one of the most coveted awards in Italy. Santa Maria Maggiore was awarded for the first time in 2009. In 2015 Santa Maria Maggiore received for the second time the “Bandiera Arancione” that recognizes once again the important historical, cultural and environmental patrimony of this resort, as well as the high quality of its hospitality and tourist services.
“This award – declared Claudio Cottini, the Mayor of Santa Maria Maggiore – provides confirmation once again of the high quality of the tourist offer of Santa Maria Maggiore, as well as the importance of the artistic and environmental patrimony of this territory, that our Municipality wants to preserve”.
“Bandiera Arancione” is a special award assigned to little towns and villages by “Touring Club Italiano”, which considers more than 250 selection criteria – concerning hospitality, accommodation facilities, tourist attractions, environment, etc. – in order to identify sites of excellence in tourism, environment and hospitality.
Santa Maria Maggiore was chosen among 2000 villages in Italy. Only 24 resorts of Piedmont gained this prestigious recognition. Only the 9% of the villages in Italy received the “Bandiera Arancione”. All the villages that received it, however, noticed a great improvement in tourism.
Santa Maria Maggiore is always improving its tourist offer so that you can enjoy here a wonderful holiday!
