Valle Vigezzo is a longitudinal valley in the Lepontine Alps: this wide plateau (at 800m above sea level) is a natural “corridor” of glacial origin between Ossola and Ticino. It is known as “Valley of Painters” not only for its enchanting and inspiring views, but also for the ancient artistic tradition and painting skill of some inhabitants.
Valle Vigezzo is crossed by a narrow-gauge railway line, called Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli, that connects Domodossola to Locarno. This is really one of the most scenic railway-lines of the Alps.
